About the Author

Erlyn Rachelle K. Macarayan is a PhD student at the Institute for Social Science Research and the School of Political Science in International Studies, University of Queensland in Australia. She is currently working on determining the influence of various healthcare system models around the world on child mortalities and morbidities, including the prevalence of non-communicable diseases. Prior to coming to Australia, she previously worked as a Presidential Management Staff in the Philippine government and also as a research assistant. Her educational background includes a masters degree in Health Social Sciences at the De La Salle University. She also took certificate courses on social entrepreneurship and business management at the University of Asia and the Pacific and the Ateneo de Manila University and has a nursing background from the University of Santo Tomas.
